Among many professionals, software developers are one subset generally who don't care about there dress. Most of them are satisfied with simple T-shirt, and a denim. They normally don't bother about keeping there cubical organized. There rooms are horribly messy. Simply as long as things are functioning they don't worry about how they look like. Similarly they don't care much about User Interfaces, as long as software works.
Also they know how to operate piece of software which they develop before the product is there. That also make them less concern about usability and don't give opportunity to explore the product in real first time users' shoes.
One thing that developers don't understand is that UI is a very very important factor when product is marketing. Who is going to buy an hi tech car with ugly look or do you buy a chocolate wrapped in a plane white paper?
